Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20 blend
  • 1 tablespoon finely ground coffee medium roast
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 slider buns split
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese halved
  • 2 tablespoons butter melted
  • Optional toppings: pickles lettuce, tomato, ketchup

Equipment

  • griddle or large skillet
  • spatula
  • small bowl
  • measuring spoons
  • basting brush

Method

  1. In a small bowl, mix the ground coffee, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place the ground beef in a large bowl. Add the spice mixture and Worcestershire sauce. Gently combine with your hands—don't overwork the meat.
  3. Divide the beef into 8 equal portions. Shape each into a thin patty, about 1/2 inch thick. Press a small indent in the center of each patty to prevent puffing.
  4. Heat a griddle or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the patties and cook for 3 minutes without moving them. Flip, then top each with a half-slice of cheese. Cook another 2-3 minutes for medium doneness.
  5. While the patties cook, brush the cut sides of the slider buns with melted butter. Toast them on the griddle or in a separate pan until golden, about 1 minute.
  6. Assemble the sliders: place a patty on each bun bottom, add toppings as desired, and cap with the bun top. Serve immediately.

Notes

Store leftover patties in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium heat. For a lighter option, use ground turkey and reduce the coffee rub slightly. The coffee adds a smoky depth, not a coffee flavor—so even non-coffee drinkers will enjoy it.
